Congratulations to the Hugh Wooding Law School (HWLS) Margaret Forte Inter-Law Schools Moot Competition Team for winning the Margaret Forte Inter-Law Schools Moot Competition held at the Eugene Dupuch Law School in the Bahamas on March 15, 2012. This is the fifth consecutive win for the HWLS Team at this competition. The team comprised Benjamin Drakes, Wesley George and Amanda Riley and was coached by the Honourable Madame Justice Weekes, J.A.

Congratulations to Shermaine Desnoes and Kerith Kentish. The team placed second to Osgoode Hall Law School at the International Competition for Mediation Advocacy (ICMA) 2012 in Toronto, Canada. This is the first time that HWLS has taken part in the competition. The team was coached by Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Tutor, Mrs. Giselle Yearwood-Welch. The team placed third in the quarter finals and advanced to the semi-finals against Fordham University School of Law (winners of the international competition in Paris last year). Our team had the highest score in the semi-finals of the four teams which included Osgoode Hall Law School, University of Maryland Law School and Fordham University School of Law.
Shermaine Desnoes received the Founders Award of the ICMA for the Most Outstanding Individual in the competition.

This provides endorsement for the significant work done at HWLS in teaching ADR as well as our ADR Specialist Clinic in which students are exposed to mediation and mediation representation, negotiation and other ADR methods.
